NWBA AAU Basketball, based out of Prince Georges County, Maryland was established to improve player skills and performance while setting them up to succeed in life. Our goal is develop athletes in the game of basketball while helping them to focus on the core values of discipline, hard work, and perseverance for success both on and off of the court.
After three years in existence, NWBA is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming a premiere nonprofit organization for the development of youth Basketball in the Washington DC Metro Area. Every day we are improving the lives of youth by helping student athletes develop moral character, teamwork skills, and sportsmanship in a safe but competitive environment. Additionally, NWBA programs instill self-confidence and sense of purpose in the lives of the youth we work with helping the players to grow both athletically and academically.
The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by over 670,000 participants and over 100,000 volunteers.
The New World Sports Club is an affiliated organization (Level 3) and is recognized as tax-exempt under the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States Inc.’s group determination ruling.
